Mini Review:
John Cusack plays the owner of a record store,
Championship Vinyl, in Chicago during the day and a lady's
man at night. Based on the cult novel of the same name by Nick Hornby, this quirky comedy
was very much in the vein of Grosse Pointe Blank,
since it is written by the same guys. If you liked Gross Pointe, you might want
to check this out.
The film is centered on Cusack's store and his presonal life. He sets top 5
lists about both throughout the film. These lists are funny. His
relationships are even funnier.
John Cusack was very good but Jack Black was by far the best part of the
movie. Good music, great taste, and a good story nicely portrayed on screen. I especially liked the reference to one of my favs, Belle and Sebastian.
Starring: John Cusack, Jack
